Music fans have no doubt smelled it in the air for a while now—the new festival season is rapidly upon us. About time to launch the 2012 website of one of Belgium’s largest city festivals, we thought, so here it is, with our and our client’s blessing: our new design for the amazing website of De Lokerse Feesten 2012!
As one of the main rock-and-roll cool agencies in Belgium, Design is Dead are always happy to oblige when internationally renowned music festivals turn to us for an appealing new website that screams ‘come and party with us!’ In fact, just to give you an example, we’ve been supplying De Lokerse Feesten with attractive web design for years, and 2012 is no different. When they asked if we wanted to give their festival website its yearly makeover, of course we were prepared, willing, and able. Design is Dead took care of the design—with splashes of colour and lovely playful lines—and the crafty integration; Lokerse Feesten went ahead with the development.
Together we created a website that is cool, user-friendly, attractive, fun, and catches the eye… A perfect fit with the personality and the image of this amazing festival, in Belgium and abroad.
PS: Oh, and for those who might worry about the current lack of band names on the line-up—don’t worry, it won’t be a silent festival. As soon as new bands names are released, they’ll be added!
Design is Dead presents, from the bottom of our creative imagination, our new showreel 2012! Illustrating the myriad beautiful things we as craftsmen with keyboards can accomplish, this reel will give you a great impression of who we are and what we do. We hope you’ll enjoy this little piece of montage magic!
Design is Dead sometimes performs magic. How? By bringing design to life, or at least by helping others to do so. A perfect example of this is our latest design baby: the new sleek and very stylish Mookum website.
The founders of the project called upon our sense of style and impressive creative skills to give their brand a complete makeover. We happily obliged and re-worked everything: We created a new logo and came up with a new name, developed an appropriately original signature style and designed a website befitting the amazingly practical yet carefully conceived and crafted objects available online. Then we entrusted the project to Inventis to build the website and the platform, making our concepts and ideas real.
Today,Mookum, which is Yiddish for ‘house’ or ‘home’, has it all. Using the combination of a user-friendly website and an interactive platform, it forms the perfect bridge between designers and design lovers. Mookum is now able to offer clients a true ‘design experience’.
Last week, Flanders Fashion Institute launched its stylish new website, designed, patterned, cut and neatly sown together by Design is Dead.
Design is Dead and FFI are very proud to present what they hope will be the first of many joint creations. This fall, FFI displays a strong love for pure, strong lines and an impeccable attention to detail. The entire website is built on a few clear, strong theme colours, combined with a few eye-catching accessories to liven up the silhouettes, and breathes usability, understated elegance, and fashionability. Fashion lovers at home and abroad will adore this new website, which is the perfect blend of information (e.g., with all the latest fashion news and events, jobs, courses and workshops) and attractive qualities and appearance. Let it be known: Belgian high fashion has finally found its perfect online embodiment!
Yunomi, the largest online community for and by women in the Benelux, has been awarded the European Mixx Award in the category ‘Lead Generation’! No small feat–and we are fittingly proud of this achievement.
A few months ago, the Belgian part of the Yunomi team moved shop from Brussels to Antwerp to join the happy crowd here at Design is Dead. A lucky decision, because after the Belgian Silver Mixx Award of last year, last week this online community for and by women did one better: it took home the European Mixx Award in the category Lead Generation! This joint project of Emakina.nl and Design is Dead for Unilever is a huge success, as these numbers prove: with 315.000 members, 1 million visitors per month, and more than 3.6 million comments posted over the past two years, Yunomi can safely be said to be one of the most important online communities around. Gooooooooooo team!
On Wednesday, 8 June 2011, Design is Dead proudly launched what will definitely be one of the most amazing websites of 2011—the website of OFFF 2011! Our most important tools? Careful planning and organizing, intelligent and creative design, intense programming, and extensive tweaking and tuning, with a delightful result!
When we were asked last year if we were interested in concepting, designing, and creating the website for the OFFF festival 2011, to be held in Barcelona, we didn’t have to think about it very long. ‘Hell yeah!’, was the phrase, if memory serves. So we put three young, creative talents on the project and waited for the magic to happen, with a little (well, a lot of) help from their eager Design is Dead colleagues. That it did is easy to see: one look at their fantastic funky web creation proves that great and original minds were at work. But we couldn’t have pulled it ‘offf’ without the support of our partners in creation, Emakina FR & Emakina BE. Watch out Barcelona—Design is Dead is coming!
A few days ago, Panasonic launched a new Facebook game called Evolta City. This clever and highly addictive game, concept & design by Design is Dead & development by Sevenedge, is a part of Panasonic’s campaign to promote its new line of revolutionary Evolta batteries.
Wondering how it works? In order to help Mr. Evolta build Evolta City, the first CO2-free city on the Web, you as a player collect power by inviting friends and taking a series of actions to boost their sustainability such as building eco-houses, buying electric cars or building windmills. Simple as that! Well, maybe at face value it is. But make no mistake: this Facebook game is much more than just another Farmville clone. Why? First and foremost, it is an exciting and fun game to play that will keep you busy for hours on end. In addition, the game is very easy to figure out, looks amazingly attractive (how could it not, thanks to our wonderful designers?), and is never ever boring due to the many options and challenges you encounter. We are very proud to have delivered such an exemplary piece of online gaming!
It’s not that Design is Dead actually started a TV station online—but this is close enough (for now): We created the new website of deMENSEN, one of Belgium’s finest TV production companies!
A while ago, deMENSEN asked the online taskforce of Design is Dead to revamp their website. Their main demands? That the website be user-friendly; that it put their portfolio of TV programs—their core business—in the picture; and that its design be understated and sleek.
Needless to say, we gave them exactly what they wanted—and a little more, just a sprinkle of that Design is Dead magic. To put the focus 100% on the programs (which include Blokken, De Tabel van Mendelejev en Low Impact Man) we opted for large visuals and a simple but elegant design, topped by drop-down navigation for easy and intuitive use…as if the programs themselves were presented on a TV monitor. We think it’s safe to say you will not feel the need to zap away!
Design is Dead, purveyor to the royal household of many a major music festival, presents its latest rock-a-licious creation: the new website of Lokerse Feesten!
When we do something, we do it well. We have high standards to live up to, as you know. But if we say so ourselves: we have really outdone ourselves this time. De Lokerse Feesten, one of Belgium’s biggest open-air music festivals, wanted a brand-new website that oozed rock & roll cool–and that is exactly what they got. After an intense headbanging competition, ehm…, brainstorming session, we got to work, re-styling their entire site from A to Z and making it happen online, from concepts and design to wireframes, production, and slicing. Hell yeah!
Now all you as a visitor have to do is click, enjoy the user-friendly and exquisitely groovy lay-out, and create your own scrumptious musical menu. So far, the line-up includes Belgian artists such as Goose, Triggerfinger, Bart Peeters, Ozark Henry, and Das Pop–to name only a few top bands that will play Lokeren this summer. Rock on!
The Jongbloed! crew, the youth organization of the KMSKA (the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp), is looking for fresh blood! As part of their viral campaign to reach creative, independent, and culture-oriented young pups between the ages of 16 and 24 who could act as ambassadors for the museum, they asked us to shoot a video that would attract the attention of their target audience. Something our crafty video crew sunk its teeth into with delight. So to the museum we went, armed with nothing but two dogs, some treats, and a furry suit…
